Cheese Onion and Crispy Potato Pasty Recipe

2 Onions – Sliced
2-3 Potatoes – Cubed
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 tspEnglish Mustard
200g Gloucester Cheese – Grated
1 tbsp Flour
1 tbsp Butter
150ml Milk
1 Sheet Puff Pastry


1. To start your cheese onion pastie meal, slice the Onions and cook on a medium high heat at first to sweat.
2. Turn it down to medium low after a few minutes of cooking so it can caramelise slowly
3. Cube potatoes and toss in a little oil and seasoning. Distribute evenly in a roasting dish and roast at 180c for 15-20 mins till fork tender.
4. Once onions are nicely cooked and caramelised add in the butter and flour and cook out for 2-3 mins
5. Once the flour is cooked out add in the milk and cook for further 5 mins till thick and creamy
6. When thick and creamy add in the mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
7. Fold in the cheese and incorporate until it is completely melted.
8. Set the mixture aside to cool.
9. While the mixture is cooling, roll out the puff pastry and cut into circles using a bowl or a cutter.
10. Place an even amount of filling in the pastry cut-outs, fold over and crimp the edges with a fork so the filling remains inside while baking.
11. Egg wash the Pasty and bake at 170c on bake 25-30 mins
12. Some cooked through and crispy, serve your cheese onion pastie immediately
