Perfect Instant Pot Green Lentils
Nutty, tender and packed with nutrition, these Perfect Instant Pot Green Lentils are your go-to base for hearty salads, stews, curries and more. With the Instant Pot, there’s no need to soak, stir or second-guess – just perfectly cooked lentils every time in a fraction of the usual cooking time.
Why Cook Green Lentils in the Instant Pot?
Green lentils can take a while to cook on the hob and are easy to over- or undercook. The Instant Pot offers a hands-off, foolproof method that delivers evenly cooked, firm-yet-tender lentils that hold their shape – ideal for recipes where texture matters.
Simple Cooking Method
Use a ratio of 1 cup green lentils to 2¼ cups water or stock for added flavour. Add a pinch of salt (or leave it out until after cooking if preferred), seal the lid, and cook on high pressure for 9–10 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then drain if needed and fluff with a fork.
Versatile and Protein-Packed
Green lentils are incredibly adaptable – stir them into soups and stews, toss with herbs and dressing for a warm salad, or add them to veggie shepherd’s pie, wraps or grain bowls. Their slightly peppery flavour pairs well with garlic, lemon, mustard, and fresh herbs like parsley or thyme.
Batch Cook and Store
Cooked green lentils keep well in the fridge for up to 5 days and freeze beautifully. They’re perfect for meal prep, helping you add quick plant-based protein to your meals throughout the week.
Reliable Results, Every Time
Whether you’re new to lentils or use them regularly, this Instant Pot method is quick, consistent and hassle-free. No soaking required, no boiling over – just perfectly cooked green lentils ready to elevate any dish.
