Exquisite Low Waste Instant Halloween recipe ideas alert!

We all know that opting for seasonal veg is a great way to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible, and with Halloween just around the corner, pumpkins are a popular seasonal veg choice this week. But did you know that half of the pumpkins bought for Halloween carving are thrown away? Pretty terrifying stuff!

So, alongside some styling inspo on how to have yourself a very grown up Halloween table this year, we’ve got – not one – but two delicious seasonal recipes to get the most out of your pumpkin this month. And if you’re thinking of throwing your pumpkin seeds away – think again! We’ve got a few tips on how to preserve your pumpkin seeds too.

1.       Halloween doesn’t have to be orange

Does the thought of a black and orange colour palette fill you with terror? You can choose any palette you like for Halloween decor! We’ve been so inspired by some of the beautiful Halloween colour palettes we’ve seen online this year. Painting your pumpkins with tester pots is an easy way to incorporate some colour into your Halloween table. Why not try Farrow & Ball blues and blush tones – beautiful alongside Corelle Portofino serveware (and proving this really is a set designed for any mood, season or occasion!)

Carve out the flesh of your pumpkins before painting them, so as not to waste any of the vegetable. Head to our Instagram feed to see us stack up this Boo-jee blue Halloween table, step by step!

2.       Sweet and Savoury Pumpkin Recipes

Sweet, sticky, silky and seasonal. Need we say more?! These two delicious recipes created by our in-house chef Jess Levin are all you need for a cosy Halloween weekend. Whether it’s sweet or savoury (or both) that you fancy, these recipes will help you to use up all the pumpkin flesh once you’ve worked your carving magic on your veg.

3.       Save your seeds

It might be a fiddly job, but saving your seeds is well worth the effort the get the most out of your pumpkin. Once you’ve separated the seeds from the pumpkin flesh, you can cook the seeds straight in your Air fryer basket. Toss them in a little oil, paprika and salt and cook for around 35 minutes on a low setting. Be sure to keep an eye on your seeds, especially during the end of the cooking time since they can go from perfect to overdone in a minute or so.
